With 130 chimps here its hard to imagine that there are other animals at the sanctuary. But in addition to the civet who prowls the grounds nightly, and who is ultimately going to kill me, there are lots of feral kittens.
Today, a baby monkey also showed up suffering the same fate as the orphan chimps. His mother was killed in the bushmeat trade. The hope is that he can be rehabilitated a bit here and then re-released to the forest once he is a little older. Angel, who is helping to raise him gave me the chance to name him today, and when I stalled, she decided to name him after me. So, this is little Evan. Its an honor to share a name with such a wonderful little monkey:
