Soda Bottles and Dental Arcades

That title sounds like a lot more fun that this post can live up to. But lets take them in turn. Soda bottles…I promise this is the last bonobo till next year. But its adorable when the b-bos find a bottle and start to use it themselves. They constantly refill them in the river and often find other fun games they can use them for.

Of course this is a baby, but bonobos of all sizes love the bottles. Often the adult males incorporate bottles in their displays as they hold them against the ground while running towards a group, announcing their arrival with the terrible racket that the bottle makes as it skids across the earth.

Ok, and dental arcades. This is one of those weird things that is supposed to make people special. It basically just refers to the shape of your jaw. In apes, the jaw is shaped kind of like a “U”. Its round in front but then the molar rows are parallel in back.

In people our jaws are parabolic….round in front but the molar rows continue to diverge in back...they never come together.

But, a couple months ago I decided that my girlfriend has the U-shaped thing, like a chimp. Maybe she’ll send me a picture for me to post? And then today I was with my little friend Bailielle and I decided that he has the human-like parabolic thing. So, maybe my girlfriend is a chimp and bailielle is a human. Whatever, this was a pretty cool picture of the inside of his mouth.
